Vincitore del World Dramatic Competition al Festival di Sundance 2010, un thriller implacabile e senza un attimo di pausa, che ha ricevuto recensioni straordinarie ed è già stato paragonato a “Gomorra” e al cinema di Michael Mann, Martin Scorsese e Francis Ford Coppola.

Trama: Josh Young è seduto sul divano accanto a sua madre, a guardare la televisione. Crediamo che la madre stia dormendo ma scopriamo che in realtà la donna è morta di overdose. Qualche istante dopo, irrompe in casa il personale paramedico, a portar via la madre. Rimasto solo, il figlio è costretto a trasferirsi da sua nonna e dai suoi zii. E’ il violento ingresso di Josh nella vita adulta, che per lui sarà la vita del clan familiare un clan di gangster pericolosi, i suoi zii, che rispettano solo la forza, come nel regno animale. Josh è ancora giovane e debole, e cerca di mantenersi ai margini. Ma quando la polizia, per vendetta, uccide il più vulnerabile dei sui zii, Josh si ritrova nel bel mezzo del conflitto, costretto a scegliere tra la propria famiglia e il rischio di doverla tradire, per fare la cosa giusta. Ben presto Josh si rende conto che l’unico modo per sopravvivere è quello di imparare a giocare secondo le stesse regole spietate del suo clan, mostrare a tutti gli altri chi è il più forte. Ma non ha fatto i conti con sua nonna, in apparenza protettiva, ma in realtà pericolosa come una leonessa ferita che vede il proprio branco indebolirsi ed è disposta a qualunque cosa pur di proteggere i suoi cuccioli…
